A.R. Rahman nominated for Golden Globe
Indian composer A.R. Rahman has been nominated at the 66th Golden Globe awards in the 'Best Original Score- Motion Picture' category for his acclaimed compositions in the British movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'. The film, based on Indian diplomat Vikas Swarup's novel Q&A and entirely shot in Mumbai and other parts of India with most dialogues in Hindi, has also been nominated for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay awards. But Indian entries 'Jodha Akbar' and 'Taare Zamin Par' were not considered for a nomination in the Best Foreign Film category. Read more »
'Gomorra'- Italian entry for Foreign Language Oscar wins top prizes at the 2008 European Film Awards
COLOGNE, Germany- The Italian crime mosaic Gomorra (Gomorrah) was the big winner at the 2008 European Film Awards (EFAs). Sir Ben Kingsley and Danny Boyle pay tribute to Mumbai as ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ wins top British award
London-"It's a city with a big heart that's been wounded this week, but it will recover," said Danny Boyle, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ director, referring to the terrorists attacks that killed about 200 people in Mumbai last week. "It is weird to win this at the end of what's been a terrible week," added Boyle as his film, set in Mumbai, won Best Film prize at the British Independent Film Awards, Sunday, November 30, 2008.The film is tipped to win 'Best Movie' Oscar at the forthcoming Academy Awards. Goa- A film from Kazakhstan- 'Tulpan'- co-produced by Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Poland, directed by Sergei Dvortsevoy won Golden Peacock award as the curtains came down on the 39th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, India, Tuesday, December 2, 2008. New Germany and France film fund of $376,000 from 2009

Oscar winner Angelina Jolie has become the highest-earning female star in Hollywood, but she is still behind the Julia Roberts benmark as pay checks have slumped in 2008.
